This is actually not a new feature to the screen reader arena. The Cobra screen reader has had the feature for a while. In fact, though I haven't actually verified, Cobra performs OCR on an image of the computer screen, not just a document. So what you're saying is that, since JFW has the feature, the market expects Window-Eyes to have the feature. On the other hand, when Window-Eyes shows some instability, which has been a feature of JFW for years, the customers complain. JFW has some "features" that, though handy, are certainly not screen reader functions: Note the research feature for one example. This feature has been added to Window-Eyes in the form of an app. In my opinion, this is the same way OCR should be added: as an app, possibly developed by a third party. These features show the power of the scripting feature of Window-Eyes, but shouldn't be expected as a native feature of Window-Eyes.
