You may also want to use the Easy Transfer Tool before you carry out the upgrade.
This will take all of your settings and data and copy them to an external drive of some sort. You then do the upgrade and re-install Office etc. You then run the Easy Transfer Tool in reverse and it will bring all of your data and Office settings back. It is a very handy tool. TGhis will back uip your current Windows data to a folder in c:\windows.old. After several reboots, try Windows-key-U followed by ALT-N to load narrator which will talk you through the remainder of the setup and get you to your desktop so you can install Window-eyes.
