be aware that the chances are high that your periphials will not have windows 7
drivers for them. in my case my hp all in one printer had vista drivers from
hp that still worked with windows 7. the drivers supplied with windows vista or
7 do not work.
you may have to buy a new printer, scanner, video card etc.
you need as a minum 128mb or is it gb of video memory and 2gb of ram or more
and at least 20gb of free disk space.
some of your xp programs may not work. especially disk utilities like disk
doctor norton etc. unless you are useing a version that supports a 64bit system.
you can not do a in place upgrade. you have to use the custom install and use
fresh or dual boot.
fresh will move all your old documents folder to a windows.old folder and
install a fresh new copy of windows 7. you need 20 gb of free disk space to do
this. and you would still have to reinstall your programs.
