We need a bit more detail to know exactly why you're getting errors,
although I can tell you what the errors mean:
* 10060 - Connection timeout
* 10061 - Connection refused
It's important to know whether or not you're doing the asking or the
offering, but both of these errors are most likely caused by either a
firewall or router misconfiguration (or possibly both).
If you're asking for help from someone outside your own network, you
will need to do one of two things:
1. If you're an advanced user, or have knowledge of how to configure the
router that sits between your computer and the outside world, make sure
your router is configured to port forward ports 46825, 46826, and 46827
(both TCP and UDP) to the machine that is requesting assistance.
2. If you have no knowledge of port forwarding, be sure to select the
"Alternate Help Request" button, which will effectively perform a
reverse connection to the person who is helping you. The caveat to this
procedure is that the person who is helping you will need to have their
own router configured to port forward the ports mentioned in the
previous steps.
Additionally, you will need to make sure that your firewall is
configured to allow C:\Program Files (x86)\GW
Micro\Window-Eyes\gwassist.exe access to Internet resources.
Finally, are either of you connecting to a machine that is inside your
own network? If so, you will need to check the "Local Network" check box
before selecting a help button.
Be sure to read through the section of the manual that discusses
Window-Eyes Remote Assistance, as it details all of the possible
connection scenarios. If we're missing something in the documentation,
please let us know.
