Using WE 7.5.2 on a Windows XP sp3 system I regularly experience the
following problems:
1. After responding to the login prompt with LBS (load WE before
startup) and hearing Microsoft's welcoming tune, I will often hear
button UpdateU" followed by "Close", and then "button OK"
I am unable to access and/or figure out what is prompting these
buttons. In time (a minute or so) these inquiries disappear into the void.
I suspect that the "OK" item comes from Eset's nod32 update of the
latest signature file, but the Update button is a mystery. I've hit
Enter just for the heck of it and have no idea whether I've
downloaded the latest trojan or something else. In the past I've
hit Enter on the OK (whatever I'm okaying at the moment) and my
system hasn't blown up yet, but who knows what I've okayed in the process.
2) Upon completing scan sessions using K1000 v12.04 and my aged Epson
scanner, exiting the application seems to hang. In time my system
will get bored and move on to the Desktop. When I get bored I can
usually return to the Desktop with an Alt TAB or a Windows-key D.
Perhaps the low responses from the GWMicro wizards suggest that they,
unlike Congress, are working late to resolve issues in preparation
for another incremental update.
I appreciate the work they have done to get us where we are today. Consider
what I see at the bottom of an IE8 session: "error on page", as informative as
anything else Microsoft issues: what error, what page, whatup with this?
