Hi Katherine,

Here's what to do once you get to the Sounds menu.
First of all, select Program Events and arrow down to Windows Log ON.
Tabbing once will take you to the Play Windows start up checkbox.
Tab once more and you'll land on the file which it plays at start up, which is Windows Log On Sound.wav.

You can now arrow up and down to select another wav file to play at start up. If you want to use a file of your own, Tab to the Browse option and press the Enter key.
Select the location of your own wav file then Tab to Open and press Enter.
Tab to Apply or OK and you're good to go.

Tom.

That's the problem. How can we customize the scheme if the sound isn't available for us to play with?

Sounds like we are stuck with that sound unless you get a customized scheme that edits that sound.

Sorry,

Portia.

Subject: windows 7 question

Hello GW list.
I am now using a win 7 64 bit system with window eyes and have been trying to change sound schemes in win 7 but there must be a button Window eyes is not detecting in the sound schemes mannager or what ever it is.
I am trying to change the windows sound for when 7 first starts up.
Not the log on and log off sounds but the main sound you hear whin windows 7 first boots up. I can't seem to find anything in the sound list saying anything about a windows startup wave file. There is a checkbox that says "play startup sound and you can check it or uncheck it but I don't see anything to change the startup wave sound.
Are we just stuck with the windows 7 startup file?
Is there a button to change that one sound that window eyes could be missing?
Thank you.
Tracy.
