Good morning. You brought up a possibly important point by mentioning the
computer's sleep function. Sleep and hybernation don't always work right.
Power saving schemes are nice in some ways but too many times computers just
don't come back working right if they are used. I've been getting rid of
screen savers and turning sleep off for a long time and I've had very few
instances of speech loss and buggy behavior using XP and 7 with WE. I have an
HP laptop which came with Vista. The Windows 7 upgrade was included with the
machine. I expected that machine to be buggy since 7 was an upgrade instead of
a clean install. WE works great on that machine. TB 8 is the email client and
I've found that it's working better than TB 3.1X. I use both Firefox 8.0.1 and
IE9 as well. I'm not seeing many of the problems mentioned here. I do use
CCleaner often to keep the junk files somewhat at bay. CCleaner's startup
manager is also a help to run only what's needed at startup. All my machines
also have Diskeeper on them for real time defragmentation. I can't honestly
say if this makes my machines more stable or not but I know I don't have to
remember to defrag at all.

Subject: W-E and TB and the whole pc

I have had W-E act up when I use Thunderbird for reading a bunch of emails.
sometimes I will be unable to type a reply in the message field to reply to a
message, and nothing short of closing and reopening W-E works. The other day, I
saved a draft in TB and could not edit it later.

One thing I noticed - if I close Window Eyes after maybe 8 to 10 seconds, the
screen goes totaly dark for a second and then returns. When I rush things and
don't wait for this to happen, I have to reboot. If you cannot see enough to
see the screen go dark and return to the desktop, count to maybe 15.

In earlier versions of Window Eyes I had to reboot more often. In 7.5.2 it
is much easier to just close and reopen Window Eyes as long as I wait for W-E
to close down completely. Also, I no longer keep TB open all the time from
morning until night and may give TB a proactive close before or after I read a
bunch of emails even if nothing is acting up.

I did have an issue where the spell check in word 2010 would not read the
choices when pressing the ALT-; and ALT-' after TB and W-E acted up. Since I
have started doing the above, this has not happened /fingers crossed.

The other thing I notice is if I have been away from the computer and tap an
arrow key to wake it up, there is no speech. I just click the physical mouse
once on the screen and things are fine.

I also wonder if internet speed or provider issues are causing conflicts.
Our Windstream internet was down yesterday morning. When it returned, I had
less issues. When I first upgraded to 7.5.2 a few weeks ago, things were
perfect. Then things began to lock up with TB. After our internet came back
yesterday, I have had less issues with TB and W-e. Just a thought.

Yes I have AVG but never had a problem with TB in previous versions.
