I don't really like to speculate much. Still...

Sorry, to break your dreams. Smile.

Listen, Jeremy told it to be a FREE gift? If your suggestion is right, the screen reader will be included with the new Windows. True, at no additional cost. Still, everyone who wants it, would then have to spend who knows many hundreds dollars, on upgrading their system. Free?

And the beta cycle of WE8, I don't know about that idea either. Unless GW would have changed their copyright rules, that would not benefit the whole community. Several of us, are not even at the latest version of WE, due to the fact of us sitting outside the English part of the world, and we are not allowed into the beta cycles of GW. When GW released the 7.5 version, it took just about half a year, before I could download and install it, simply because it was not released locally until a couple of months ago. So, if they release anything of WE8, under the current copyright scheme, that will only be a benefit of those of you, who happen to be under English versions of WE.

Have no problem in understanding all the anticipations, and it could be fun enough to speculate on what it all is about. After all, since it is going to be a free gift, that will be for everyone, and GW is running a business not a cherity, I guess that some of these big dreams have to be put on the shelf.

I don't mean to be anything negative here, simply just point out some realistic parts of the story. After all, it won't help much with all the speculations. GW already knows what to put out tomorrow, and we will all hear about it. So sleep well, and take it easy.

Every piece of software has a life cycle and to me GW has put much less time into keeping WE up to date. Your idea could indeed make some sense.

Hello fellow Window eys users. I have been giving some more thought to what GW Micro could possibly be announcing tomorrow and I think that I will throw it out to the list to see what the rest of you think.

I keep going back to Jeremy's original message about the announcement and I can't seem to get away from the fact that he says that this is a Christmas present to "ALL BLIND PEOPLE". This could mean several things, but I am thinking that is may be about Window Eyes itself. Does this mean that GW Micro is going to announce that WE 8 is ready to go into a beta cycle? I really don't thin so, but I could be wrong.

I gave some thought to what Don posted on Friday about GW Micro open sourcing Window Eyes, but I don't think that this is what they are going to do. I however do not think that this idea is a stupid idea as one list member said. I do however think that they could have some big news for the blindness community at large. More specifically the blind computer user.

I think that GW Micro may be getting ready to announce that they have been in negotiations with Microsoft and they have reached a deal with Microsoft to license Window Eyes to Microsoft for use in all future versions of Windows. I say this because I can remember that when Microsoft made the announcement about releasing Windows 8 inn mid 2012 that there was talk or maybe I read it somewhere that there would be a much more robust screen reader in Windows 8. I know that this idea may seem way out there but I thought that it would make for some good conjecture on the list.

Please lets hear what everyone thinks of this idea, and if you think that it could be possible. Think about the possibility of having a copy of Window Eyes on every PC sold. To me that would seem like a no brainer, and also I think that GW Micro would be able to get some more software engineers to work on Window Eyes moving forward.

Just my thoughts. I will be listening tomorrow when they make their announcement.
