Greetings list members. I hope that this is not a widespread problem, but I share it in case others should come across this.
For several weeks, My Windows Seven machine at home has been unreliable at boot up. Last night, upon successfully starting - Window-eyes came back with a message which said that my demo had less than five minutes to run, and that Window-Eyes would completely shutdown. The "about" Window-Eyes reported my serial number and other details - not the SMA and Window-Eyes continued to nag. A system restart came back with the same message. Because I was prepared to believe that it would indeed shut down, I went straight to the emergency uninstall of Window- eyes. V7.5.1 was reinstalled, and the upgrade to version 2 was applied. No nag messages and all looks well. So: I have either had a virus attack the integrity of Window-eyes or something to do with Window-Eyes authorisations etc was corrupted with the faulty pc startup. Of concern is the message that details of the error have been sent to GW Micro, along with a message implying that I will be in serious trouble if a breach of license has been found to have occurred. Hoping all remains well and of course - a virus scan has been done. Firewall settings are in place and I guess it does remain that despite my best efforts, something malicious did occur.
