I am in a folder and I will usually copy files such as music files, or program
files.

First, how are you selecting what you want to copy? Normally, if in a list,
holding down shift and up or down arrowing will select. Press ctrl-c to copy.
If choosing items not sequential, place your cursor, not mouse, on the first or
last item, hold down the ctrl key, up or down arrow to each item you want and
press the spacebar while holding down the ctrl key. Press ctrl-c to copy.
What type of things are you copying? I.E., text, files, icons? Are you in a
document, folder, or on the desktop?
