Apparently WE does not read en dash and em dash characters in the main screen of Microsoft Word 2003. (This is using Windows XP.) WE does properly identify the characters in the symbols dialog.
The reason I believe WE isn't announcing the character in the main screen is that I've created a shortcut key to enter the em dash symbol into a document. A sighted coworker has verified the em dash is present, but WE only announces it as a dash. Do GW staff or others have a solution that will allow WE to speak these characters?
