David,

We are not aware of any drawbacks resulting from making this change.

Stephen,
What I do miss, in articles like the one you pointed us to, is some info
on whether this approach has any drawbacks. Thanks for the info, on how
to turn the graphic rendering off. But, doing so, will that affect any
of the features in Firefox? Will I, as a blind user, actually be adviced
to keep this setting running all the time; or could there be cases -
that you are aware of - where this setting will trouble my general
access of some sort of webpages, or slow down the browsing experience?
And, if my computer is being shared between me, and a sighted person -
what kind of impact will the setting have on the experience of the
sighted person?

Such info would prove itself really helpful to many of us, so as to let
us make a fully informed decision, as to whether or not we will find
it's worth to go through the hazzle of changing anything.

Yes, true enough, just the other day, I did try to move around with my
mouse in Firefox, and ended up doing the job in IE instead. I wasn't
aware of the KB article back then. So, definitely want to try out the
steps, outlined in the article. But as stated, I would have enjoyed
making an even more informed decision as to whether this is something I
want to leave there for a permanent setting. Also, even if I so decide,
and a sighted person some time down the road makes a complain about
certain things on my computer - and this would happen to be the result
of the changes I had made - it would have been useful for me to be aware
that such would be the case. Then I would readily know, what to reverse
on my computer, to give the sighted person the best experience, or to
overcome any other drawback that this setting will impose on my own
browsing experience.

So, GW staff, in the coming, would you please take your effort - when
writing articles of this sort - to tell the user a few words about what
the feature they are going to change, will have for an impact on their
system. Furthermore, we know, that there is several users out there,
that do have a certain amount of sight, and rely to a given extend on
their eyes for their computing. Even if they do want the optimal
flexibility out of their screen reader. I am sure, they would have
appriciated the same kind of info, before they started making changes
that could affect their activity.

OK, since such info is not included, chances are here, that there is no
immediate chance of the user noticing any big difference. I just don't
feel like that would be the case, since then, why would the feature ever
exist - if it had no impact on SOMETHING? Too many times, I have
followed some well-meaning suggestions on how to set up certain things,
and ended up with strange behavior down the road, which I don't have a
clue, why happened. And neither would anyone else, since it's hard to
remember all the good suggestions you've got the last six months. :) In
general, changing something, will always have some impact. Maybe that is
an impact you will be fully comfortable with, and actually might want.
But then at least, let the user fully be aware of the consequences that
his changes do have.

Just a friendly reminder, to everyone who wants to write articles of
this kind. :)

Dave,

Window-Eyes 7.5.3 supports the latest version of Firefox from Mozilla.
If you ever want to review text with the mouse while in this browser,
you will want to disable the advanced graphical rendering.
Instructions for accomplishing this can be found at

Steve

I have had issues with IE 9 and have heard many talk about firefox.
So I am
considering downloading it and giving it a try. In the Mozilla
wegsite they
offer firefox version 10.0.2, I am wondering if this version is
supported
with WE 7.5.3 and if I have to do anything with WE to make it work
properly
with firefox.
Thanks in advance
