I had several other issues before I removed and reinstalled we. It was
after the reinstall that backspace would no longer speak the deleted
character.

some of your problems could of been fixed without a reinstall if you learn
where all the w e options are.
look in the cursor menu and look at backspace. it should be set to character
before. and it is useing the global setting when you save the changes.
then it will apply to all set files.

I was having some issues with WE in some programs. I reinstalled 7.5,
upgraded to 7.5.4, now WE won't speak the deleted character in notepad,
WordPad or any edit boxes. The reinstall did correct the other issues I was
having.
