Subject: RE: Dictionary Status

I have several questions about Window-Eyes Exception Dictionaries. When I go
into

"Status" while in Outlook there are two dictionaries listed for Exception,
excp.dic

and mso2010.dic.

excp.dic is the global dictionary for window-Eyes. It is always loaded while
WE is running, unless you turn it off. More on that later. Excp.dic is the
default dictionary, the backstop, if you will. That is, in the absence of
any other loaded exceptions dictionary, excp.dic is the dictionary to which
you will be adding entries when you add them.

When I go into Status for Exception Dictionaries the following

settings are checked:

"exception dictionary on" radio button is checked.

The exception dictionary radio buttons are the master switch for the
exceptions dictionaries. If you choose off, not only are the exceptions
dictionaries disabled, but the exceptions dictionary dialog under the
exception tree node cannot be accessed. Try it and see.

"include program dictionary" checkbox is checked.

With this check box unchecked, Excp.dic would be the only dictionary
running. With this check box checked, the program specific exceptions
dictionary that was created for a particular program, Outlook 2010 in your
case, is turned on, or, included. So with the include program dictionary
check box checked, both excp.dic and Outlook2010.dic are loaded.

"exception dictionary list no selected item."

The excp.dic and mso2010.dic are listed. How do I select one?

You arrow up or down to the dictionary whose edit options you want to be
shown in the exception dialog located further down the dictionary tree view.

Space bar and enter

aren't working.

They don't. Up or down arrow selects the dictionary you want to use.

Does selecting one Mean the things I have put in it will take effect?

Correction:

No, it means the things you will put in will take effect; that is, entries
you add through the exception dialog will be added to the dictionary you had
selected with the exception dictionary list view in the status dialog. And
unless you make sure to save the settings using the save settings button,
your new entries will be lost when Window-Eyes shuts down.

Can I select both?

Yes, In the configuration you have described, both excp.dic and
Outlook2010.dic are running. If you uncheck the include program dictionary
check box, only excp.dic will be running.

What is meant by "program dictionary on" if the mso2010.dic is not on?

Again, when the check box is checked, the exceptions dictionary specific to
the program, Outlook 2010, is on, or included. When the check box is
unchecked, the Outlook2010 dictionary is off, or excluded.

Thanks.

You're welcome.
