Good morning. I did have this same situation. I discussed it with Mike at
GW Micro. He believed that somehow my WE installation was corrupted. He
suggested that I use the WE emergency removal tool on the 7.5 cd and
reinstall from the cd. I used the upgrade file to move to the latest
version after 7.5 was installed. I've used the upgrades since to get to
7.5.4.1 without problems. I have not had the desktop and Windows Explorer
disappearance since. I don't know what caused the problem in the first
place. Most of my prior upgrades had been done from upgrade files instead
of from a cd. I don't know if this made a difference or not but no matter
what it's working well now. Good luck.

Subject: something is causing the desktop to virtually disappear
Hello all,
I'm running Window-Eyes 7.5.4.1. They reinstalled Windows on this system
from ground up but then cloned the stuff on my hard drive. The desktop
will suddenly disappear. Well, not exactly, but you can't read the list
that's in the folders. It'll show:
No selected Item. If I click on it, I'll get nothing. If I try and move
the mouse pointer to click on it, it'll say:
Cannot route mouse pointer to list view. The only way I seem to be able to
bring it back again is to reboot. I can't unload and reload Window-Eyes
and it come back. When Window-Eyes comes up after a reload, I still cannot
see the desktop. What? Has anybody had this?
I'm running Windows Xp Pro with all the latest fixes and stuff.
Thanks in advance,
Brenda
