Wow can't believe there's such people on this list! If it was me and I
developed a free product I would certainly encourage people to buy my
commercials through advertising. It's the best way of making profit in
my view. If my Gw Connect were announcing stuff, I deal with it.

You don't get out enough.
Do you use Facebook for free? Is there an ad-free Facebook site?
Did you ever use Eudora as a free email client? This "free" program has
adds. The only reason you wouldn't notice them is that the adds are not
accessible.
The reason you find this ad irritating is that GW-Micro has been
considerate enough to make the ad accessible for people like us. The one
difference I have noticed is that GWConnect is advertising for the same
company that created GWConnect.
Here's an idea. How about adds on a paid product? The $79.99 Kindle sold
by Amazon is only $79.99 because it has ads. IN the U.S. at least, many of
the pre-configured computers from HP and Dell are sold relatively cheep
because they have "free" software on them that, after a time will harass you
to pay for full or continued use.
Have you ever heard of "tinstafl?"
It stands for "there is no such thing as a free lunch."
As far as making non-GW-Micro users pay for a free program, they aren't
making anyone pay. You're free to use the program without paying; you'll
just have to deal with the ad.
