Is Canada part of Nort-America? They have two official languages - English
and French. Does that make multi-language to you? Many Americans have some
need for scanning non-english documents - Spanish, French, Italian or even
Asian languages. Why? Studies, Work, Family and relatives. Do you need more
reasons for multi-lingual operations? Try scanning CD-covers of Non-English
artists, who has some kind of national characters in their song titles. And
do so, without multi-lingual service. At least, when I last tried it, the
song-titles were wrongly recognized, and not just the characters in
question, but sometimes the whole word - due to intilligent recognition
routines built into modern OCR.
The world does consist of far more than English. Even for people living in
North-America. By the way, and sorry for my ignorance, but ain't countries
like Mexico considered North-America? And don't they natively speak Spanish?
At least, in Europe, we like to think there is quite a difference between
Spanish and English. :)

Unless you live outside North America, why the heck do you need
multilanguage support? Provided you're not in a hurry, you can get Abbyy
Express on Ebay anywhere from $20 - $30.

Abbyy Finereader is pretty nice and is only about $100 or so. I think
the address is www.abbyyusa.com . Get the professional version -- you
get multi-language support and lots of nice features.

Hello list,
I recently bought a CanoScan LiDE 210 for home scanning purposes.
When I installed it I found that the delivered software is totally
inaccessible with Window-Eyes. My other family members are able to use
it.
I did write to Cannon to see if they had an alternative software
suggestion,
but they do not.
All they could suggest is that MS Windows has a driver called WIA, which
their scanner uses and I should be able to do something with that.
I have been unable to find anything out.
Does anyone have any suggestions for suitable scanning software,
hopefully
with OCR capability and not too expensive.
Thanks in advance.
