Hello Kevin,
Correct, I understand that no one is stopping me, I am just concerned
that with GW Connect now, support for Skype and WE will dwindle away.
Yes, I do remember the Skype accessibility issues in the past; however,
wouldn't you agree that recent versions of Skype haven't been as bad
about breaking accessibility?
I have set up Miranda IM and it works very very well actually, and I say
this because Jeff pointed it out as a good alternative to using Skype
for Facebook.

Hi Robert:
You say that you want the choice between using GW-Connect and Skype?
That is all well and good as far as I am concerned, in fact, unless I
am missing something, knowone has taken that choice away from you.
Also, if you have been on this list for the last four or five years,
as I have, you will perhaps remember that each time a new version of
Skype was released, there were several posts expressing frustration
because an accessibility feature which existed in the previous version
of Skype no longer worked in the new version.
My understanding was that GW-Connect (GW-Skype in its first iteration)
was written in order to eliminate such frustrations.
Of course, if you like the to use Skype, then noone will be stopping
you. So good luck.

Hello all,
I just wanted to share some of my opinions about GW Connect. While I
feel that it is an excellent program and I commend GWMicro for writing
it, I feel that there should still be a choice between using it and the
original Skype client as the Skype client still provides a richer
feature set. This is in line with my philosophy of wanting access to
already-written programs, (adaptive technology) vs. programs written
specifically for the blind (assistive technology). My concern is that,
with GW Connect being recommended now, WE is going to fall way behind in
support for the Skype client. What are other people's opinions on this?
WE is already behind JFW with this program, as cited by several in the
comments for Jeff's Skype app. Has anyone else expressed interest in
continuing development of the Skype app or are WE users left in the dark
now, pardon the pun, when it comes to the stock Skype client?
