Dave, I have to agree with you as I do not read everything on the list; and do look at subject lines. If it's something I'm interested in or know about, then I'll read it.
It would also help if you proofread your message before sending it. If someone has to wade through a message with a ton of typos, it's not as likely to get read. No one wants to take extra time to figure out what you are trying to say. Those are my observations. Dear Peter and others, One of the big reasons that I do not respond to a number of e-mail inquiries is that the subject lines are exceedingly vague. I have made it known in the past that people who write subject lines with things such as "window-eyes 7.5.4 help," or, "question about Window-Eyes," and lastly, "problem with Window-Eyes," are usually not read by yours truly or yours falsely. This is not to say that the subject matter contained in the message is not important but most people browse their e-mail by the subject line; those who do not surely have too much time on their hands to read every single message with subject lines such as those previously mentioned. Or, by some sort of technological providence they happen to be required to read every message that comes in. As I'm sure many on the list no, my subject lines tend to be about a paragraph in length and probably get boring to hear every time someone replies to them. However, the reason I do this is to alert anyone of the possibility that they might have the answer I am seeking. It also happens that I am exceedingly long-winded In both Message body and in subject line which probably does not help further the cause which would allow even the remote possibility of a short response or subject line. If the last sentence, although awkwardly written, is any indication of said long-winded statements that could probably be phrased within one or two words or at least some sort of short phrase, then I have proven my point. Indeed if you haven't gotten it by the previous sentence, well. You get the idea. So to summarize, make subjects descriptive and you are much more likely to get an answer if someone knows the issue at hand. If they don't, well that's just how it goes, not everybody can know everything including the GW micro staff. Just my two cents, except the two senses and even worth buying penny candy over because penny candy doesn't exist, so let's make it $2.99 which is about what a pack of Oreos costs. Dave C.
