Walt,

There's a free utility named NirCmd which accepts commandline arguments, and
will do various things with the soundcard including unmute it. I put a
shortcut to it in my startup group, with commandline arguments to unmute the
soundcard, and then when I restart windows and login it will always run and
unmute things.
My shortcut to it is:

C:\chip\nircmd.exe mutesysvolume 0

And you'll have to change the path to point at where-ever you put nircmd.

NirCmd is actually included in one of the apps from Jamal Mazrui, (maybe
Homer) but I don't know which one unfortunately; still, you shouldn't have
much trouble finding and downloading it.

A few anti-malware programs (such as Macafee) give a false positive warning
that it contains a virus, which you may have to deal with if you have one of
the effected programs.

hth,

Chip

Subject: Unmuting sound windows 7

Good morning all,

My girlfriend has a HP netbook with Window Eyes on it. She was on
Netflix and somehow her volume sounds became muted so she can't hear any
prompts from Window Eyes. I tried to use the Windows key x but that hot key
combination does not work any more. I could use this command and tab down 4
times and press space bar to unmute the sound. Is there a script or simple
program to do this? Thank you,

Walt
