The following Microsoft article should help regarding how to change your default search provider in Internet Explorer: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-vista/Change-or-choose-a-search-provider-in-Internet-Explorer.

Regarding Firefox, you can press Alt-Down Arrow while you are in the search box to expand the list of providers, Arrowing to the one you want, and hitting Enter to select it.
