Robert,

You are asking questions to which I have no easy answers. I suspect, however, that the ability to have multiple JREs on your machine exists in case each Java program requires a specific version to properly execute.

Regards,
Steve

Doesn't installing tons and tons of different JRE's clog up the system?
Why doesn't it update on top of the one you already have?

Andrew,

Just re-run the access bridge installer available from the Window-Eyes
Advanced Options group in your Start menu. If a new JRE has been
installed and registered, the bridge will be copied to its location.
Otherwise, the program will do nothing and your machine will remain
untouched.

Regards,
Steve

Hi Doug,

Since I purchased this Dell PC last march, it seems that there is a new
Java update every month or so. What is the procedure then to reinstall
the Java Access Bridge? I am interested because our Elearning site at
the VA uses Java.

Andy

Andy,

This is not true. All you have to remember is if you upgrade or install
a new Java runtime environment (jre) you must then re-install our Java
Access bridge. The access bridge installer looks in the registry for
all your registered jre locations and installs the necessary files in
each.

Is it true that you must uninstall the installation of Java that may
be on your PC before you install the Java Access Bridge?

Remember that the Java Access Bridge is installed with WE 8.0 Beta 1
by default if you used the Quick Install and can be installed later
under WE in the Start menu.
