Isn't thatt in the verbosity setting in brows mode?
That appears to be a choice or have I miss understood that set of controls?

Or are you saying you want a hot key combo to make this change?

Not the same thing, Trenton. Insert-A toggles between browse mode being
automatically loaded or something else--probably being loaded manually. I
would like the ability to turn form interaction off in case a web page is
troublesome.

While browse mode is on, pressing insert-A, toggles between the auto
loading of browse mode.
Note, to keep it off perminately, save the set file.
Hope this helps.

Jim,

I didn't mean to imply you could disable the escape feature as you can
not. We are taking comments to determine if we should just remove it
and I'm tending to lean that direction based on the feedback. Meaning
we wouldn't do anything ourselves with escape and you would just use
control-shift-a to toggle BM on or off.

Hi Doug

I didn't know I could disable this feature. Where do I turn it off? If
I can turn it off I have no problem with it

I frequently browse with browse mode off using the mouse to read. When
a box pops up that I don't want to bother with I press ESC and
frequently that closes the box. (Examples are my RoboForm password
program and, I think, IE's box offering to remember a password. There
are others but I don't remember specific examples right now.)

Another example is a combo box. If the box is open and you decide not
to change anything, pressing ESC closes the box leaving the entry that
was there before opening the box.

Thanks

Jim

Sandra,

Yikes, calm down (smile). It is automatic. But we still allow you
to manually enable/disable.

We are evaluating if escape is causing more problems than it is worth.
We didn't make this idea up, it is used by other screen readers...but
perhaps it is to problematic.

But James, can you be very specific as to why it is causing you
problems?

Now wait a minute! I thought the new browse mode was automatic! I

well, maybe I am wrong.

Hi

I find the new browse mode feature in the beta that uses the ESCape
key to toggle browse mode very annoying. I frequently use the ESC
key for its original purpose. There should be a way to turn off this
feature. I know I can use the bypass key but find it hard to
remember to do this.

Permanently changing the behavior of a key does not seem to fit in
with GW Micro's usual approach.

I have already expressed this opinion to GW Micro on the phone.
