Hi mike,
If you don't want to reinstall quicktime, than your only choice is to change your default program for playing music.
To do this
press window key
arrow left  to sleep
then arrow up to
 default programs and enter
tab and check microsoft
then with your mouse starting at the bottom  right
go up to media player and click on enable
then click on ok
Personally I prefer winamp, which is the program gwmicro recommends- I think.
