Well nothing said that there was a conflict. I just heard Bang. I did go and double check that all my settings were as I thought they should be. I don't recall that WE uses these keys. I know that the alt keys and the numbers are defined to read email headers. I went and read all the WE manual entries about Outlook but didn't see any mention of quick steps in the documentation.
I tried again and defined a new quick step to send it to a different email address. I had that one set to use ctrl shift 2. I was told that the quick steps are only available in the list of mail messages and not while one message was open. So I tried it on my new quick step. It said AT and then the forwarded message opened for me to add in another address. This is not how I thought this was supposed to work. I guess I don't have the command set up properly. I thought it would just go away after I had pressed the keys and go on to the next one. I was not blaming the screen reader at all. I don't know how to use Outlook itself. I read the manual and this particular option was not mentioned. There is a learning curve doubled here since this is a beta of the screen reader and a new user to a program. It was not out of the realm of possibility that I tripped over something that was misbehaving with these two programs. I'll go and read more about how to set up quick steps since there doesn't appear to be a key conflict between the two programs. Is there a way to have WE announce the flag I defined for the key command? There is something about an icon in the outlook documentation. I am guessing that there is now a little icon someware with my tag affixed to it. But I don't suppose I will hear the flag until a mouse finds it. Thanks for the help.
