Hi, Well a clean install removes all desktop programs any way so that kind of goes with out saying. I was speaking of the steps to perform a upgraid. Sorry if I was not clear on that.

I performed a upgraid from windows 7 to 8. You can do a clean install. The setup program gave me my key witch I was able to copy to a text file. I also got a key in e-mail. No sighted helped needed at all. I would remove window-eyes from the system before performing the upgraid narrator or nvda will be able to get you threw the setup with no problem. I myself used nvda for this. Once I got the upgraid working no sighted help needed again. I reinstalled the screen readers that use windows access display drivers. I would also remove jaws if you have it installed. Reinstall it after you perform the upgraid. Other then that everything was straight forward. The reason I used nvda verces window-eyes is this. If you have it installed you will need to run the windows 8 beta file from where ever. Update window-eyes and then remove it again and reinstall it. Far easyer to remove it. Install windows 8 with nvda and then reinstall it. Jaws is more complex. If you have it installed when you do the upgraid you will find your self going threw a 10 step process to get it working with windows 8 app store apps. So you really don’t want that beast on board when you do the upgraid. Encouraged by the positive comments I have been reading regarding Windows 8, I am convinced that I should take the plunge. Help appreciated please? I have two machines running Windows 7 Professional. The machine to get Windows 8 is a Toshiba Laptop, with relatively little data on it so if it crashes – inconvenient rather than disastrous. I understand that I will need sighted assistance to get the Windows 8 activation codes, and the plan is to probably run a clean install rather than upgrade. I can get the store’s sales staff to provide me with all the serial numbers etc., but can Windows 8 install be made to talk if it identifies that Window-eyes is running. Once the system reboot occurs, how will I get Narrator to run? I did ask several weeks ago if there were any issues relating to braille display drivers, and the responses were inconclusive. I have a Hims Braille Edge and the Focus Blue from Freedom Scientific. I might also load the U2 as a Braille display. I expect that the Windows 8 version of Window-eyes 8 beta will install off a cd created from the file off the web in the tried and true way of all previous Window-Eyes installs as supplied by Gw Micro.
