Vocalizer voices and Realspeak voices are not the same. The way that Window-Eyes communicates with them would be different. I think people are concerned with the responsiveness between WE and the voices themselves. I'm thinking that if you get the WE 8 demo, maybe it has them. I don't know. Perhaps that's a question for GW support. I'm sure that Steve or Aaron will have something to say when they return on Monday.

Aren't they just the realspeak voices? Just try those out first and you
should get an idea.

Would it be possible to get a full featured demo of the voices instead
of a sample so we could really see how they would work on our system
before buying.

Hi, if you are a prior than version 8 WE user, then you have always
been able to use DECTalk. This will not change with the WE 8 upgrade.
If you purchase the Vocalizer voices for WE8 and above, the
authorization will allow you to continue to use DECTalk as always,
but will also give you access to the Vocalizer voices you purchase.

Now, if you are purchasing WE 8 for the first time, you will
automatically have access to the Vocalizer voices, but not the
DECTalk voice. So, there is a bit of an exchange from old WE users
prior to version 8 and new WE 8 users. Older users have DEC and new
WE users have Vocalizer.

If this isn't clear still, I suggest you call GW Micro on Monday and
speak with tech support.

Hope that helps.

It's per language. I'll probably buy them at some point. I just hope
these versions don't suffer from the sluggishness that plagues other
Sapi voices when they're used as screen reader voices. If not I could
finally ditch Eloquence altogether since its response rate is the only
reason I use it at all.
