I must say, I have been a little disappointed with Ccleaner. After uninstalling Nero, it left some remnants, such as its handlers in my auto-play handlers list, so I ran Ccleaner in the hope that it would remove them, but it didn't complain about them and it didn't clean them either, despite the fact that they were clearly orphans. I then Googled and found a utility called CleanHandlers with which I was able to remove them. I really can't say that Ccleaner performed any magic on my system.

Kind regards

Christo

It actually has already been done. The CCleaner was part of the Ninite
installer - way up till something like two years ago. Then, all the
sudden,
it was removed from the Ninite site. I did contact the customer service at
Ninite, and got a polite message in return, informing me that the CCleaner
team had requested their software being removed from the Ninite installer.
Too bad, but that is the reason why it is not there. Somehow, I tend to
stop
using the CCleaner, simply due to the fact I am tired of having to update
the software numerous times a year, and every time having to deal with a
handful of junk. Not exactly a good reputation for a software, that claims
to help you keep your computer clean and optimized. If they were that
helpful, then why the junk. Eat our burger and get poisoned? :) And if
they
do shower us with that kind of junk as part of the software installation,
then I do question how much other "hidden" insecurity could be part of the
CCleaner. Too bad, since it seems to be one of the few accessible cleaners
on the market.

But, I do have a feeling, the Ninite staff is not the ones to be addressed
here. Maybe a better idea would be, to get in touch with the staff behind
CCleaner directly, explaining how cumbersome it is to get hold of their
software, and what trash they deliver with it. Also, stressing the fact
that
their software is accessible, and therefore could be useful to the blind
community. And, maybe, asking them what other hidden stuff they include
in
their "cleaner".

Perhaps it might be good to get some requests in to the folks at Ninite,
asking that C Cleaner be added. It would be great to be able to update C
Cleaner easily and without having to deal with the so-called convenience
of getting Chrome and any other application they care to add without any
effort or the terrible hassle of giving permission. They might not add
it, or may not be able to get permission to add it since I am certain
that
at least some applications' creators won't be willing to allow for an
installer that removes all of the extra junk, but it might be worth a
try.

Regards,

chris

Warning: this installed Google Chrome on me when I installed CCleaner.
I
didn't see anything that warned me ahead of time and would have given
me
an
opportunity to choose not to install Chrome.
