Jim,
This error just means that Window-Eyes does not have write access to
your profile directory. While rare, it can happen, and the problem is
typically very easy to fix.
1. From within the WE control panel, press Alt-F, E to open your
profile folder.
2. Press the backspace key to move to the previous folder.
3. Press the spacebar to highlight your current profile (which is
likely called "default").
4. Press Alt-Enter to open its properties.
5. Tab until you reach the "read-only" checkbox. Press the spacebar
until you hear "unchecked."
6. Click Apply, then OK.
7. Close your profile directory.
At this point, Window-Eyes should be able to write to your profile folder.
Regards,
Steve

I am running Windows 7, 64-bit Home Premium laptop.
When I did a fresh install of Windows-Eyes 8, and I went to the WE
Control panel, I get that this file cannot be saved. I rebooted
everything but, when I rebooted, everything reverted back to default
settings. WHY!!!!!!!!!!
What do I need to do to make sure everything is saved? Is this an error
caused by my copy of the WE 8.0.0 CD? Immediate help is requested. Thanks.
