Two things work for me. First when you use the mouse cursor to read, left click any where in the text. This brings focus to the body and WE then knows what to do. Press control+home to make sure you are at the top, then you can use the arrow keys or read to end hot key to go through your document.
Second, if you move the mouse pointer to the top and work your way down, you will find the text that allows you to click and enable editing.
