I believe there's a GW Knowledge Base article on this, but I don't recall the
number right off hand. You can search for it. Here's what works for me. While
you're reading with the mouse cursor, left click so you're now fully in the
document, then use the F6 key to cycle to where you are prompted to allow
editing. After you allow editing, you should be ok.

You can also save the attachment instead of trying to open it from Outlook.
Then use your application key (context menu) to unblock the file. Look under
properties from the context menu.

Someone else may be able to give you better directions; I set my Word settings
to allow editing of email attachments, so I don't have to deal with that when I
open attachments. But, you'll only want to take that approach if you're willing
to be especially careful about which attachments you do and don't open. It
leaves you vulnerable to viruses and malware from Word macros..

Subject: WE and the reading of a protected document

Hello list,

I got a document which is protected. I have Word 2010. I tried to read it, but
with limited success. I can read it with the mouse but not with my arrow keys.
Is it something to do with the fact that it is protected? If that is the case,
how do I unprotect a document in Word 2010?

Kind regards
Morné
