Peter, It sounds like you are just the lucky guy since I haven't seen a problem with IE 8 and another poster hasn't seen one with IE 10. Did you try the screen reader link, though, and did you try turning off all apps to see if that helped? I am not advocating that you go back if you are happy where you are, but I know from experience that knowing the specifics of the problems would be helpful.
