Hi Sandy,

I'm guessing that when you said it's not working inward that you meant in Word, as in Office Word. Here's the problem. By default Insert-Down arrow is defined both as a global and a program hot key. Insert-up and down are for previous and next cell. They're defined globally for browse mode and program for Office. There's no conflict because you're never going to be in browse mode while in office. That's why they're program scope for Office. But browse mode is not used only in our browsers. So that needs to be global. But regardless of that you should have been notified that Insert-down was already defined in both cases and prompted what to do. So I would try capturing Insert-down again just to make sure the Insert key wasn't quite pressed when you did so the first time. If it still doesn't work the only other thing I can think of is if you're running the Insert key layout app. Although I know nothing about it because I have no interest in it and uninstalled it. But it's an Insert key based hot key layout. Then again, either the Insert key layout or the Jaws Quick key app may be just what you're looking for; that is, a common layout between both screen-readers.

Hth,
Tom

I think I have done something wrong with a hot key setting and can’t
figure it out. Because I go back and forth between Window-Eyes at home
and JAWS at work, I have changed the Read tend hot key on WE too Insert
Down Arrow. Either I’ve screwed something up in recent days or the
computer gods have. Here’s why.

In Outlook and Internet Explorer the insert down arrow combination works
fine. It’s not working inward. My settings in WE control panel are as
follows:

Insert Backslash

Hot keys

Miscellaneous

Read to End

Read to End Insert Down Arrow, Global

Read to end global toggle scope button

I tried toggling the Global button to Program and setting the same hot
key that way but when I press Insert Down Arrow while in Program, WE
reports that my hot key is merely down arrow without the insert. What
am I doing wrong? I want it it be insert down arrow for everything.
