I don't like NVDA because it's mouse reading support )or flat review as they
and Orca, the linux gnome screen readercall it) is awful, arguably the worst
I've ever seen. It has its uses but if you need to read a lot with the mouse,
like me, forget about it. This is where w e has always outshone every other
product for me, it's mouse support. NVDA is exactly worth what you pay for it,
in my opinion.

Subject: some comments re Window-eyes vs NVDA

  Dear All,

I wish to put my 2 cents on the thread emails regarding Window-eyes vs NVDA.

Firstly I wish to say that recently I had an issue related to the windows 8
machine and the WE8.2. GW-micro staff were very very supportive and even gave
me the facility (because I am from Malta, Europe) to check my client's laptop
remotely. Thanks to this strong collaboration that GW Micro continue confirm
that there is an issue between WE and windows 8 with machines that has the UEFI
interface. So as regarding support certainly GW Micro are doing their utmost
to provide the necessary support to their customers.

I am more than sure that where technical issues as concern WE, GW Micro are
doing what is technically possible to resolve every possible bug, but nothing
is perfect in this world.

Personally, I also (every now and then) under different circumstances, I make
use from NVDA which as a free screen reader alternative is developing very
nicely. But then NVDA, although it has a number of good features, for the home
user environment it might be sufficient but for me at an business office
environment, I certainly need something more capable like Window-Eyes.

Those who are thinking to retreat their support to the window-eyes by do not
continue buying the upgrades, they must keep in mind that even Microsoft
Windows has a lot of bugs and they are issue patches every month.

NVDA is doing a good job, because it is keeping Commercial Screen Reader
companies always on edge to keep abreast with the latest developments and do
not just take it easy.

So, I feel that Gw Micro, appreciate more if they receive constructive
criticism and where possible positive suggestions how to improve Window-Eyes,
because with this manner that Window-Eyes could be improve for the benefit to
every end user.

One suggestion that I wish to bring forward, is if it is possible that
someone write an application for those that has the UEFI interface, if someone
can create a utility that enable the user to modify the UEFI settings with the
help of Window-Eyes.

  Anyway, that's all for today,

  Thanks,

  Michael Micallef Dip I.T.
