OK, thanks this works. Now, after I labeled the graphic and try to mouse to the icon, the mouse skips over the line. I have a line of 8 buttons. I can only get to the buttons using the previous and next clip. It does say the new label name, though. Is there a way to have the mouse recognize that there is something in that space when I move the mouse down the screen?

Usually get in the ballpark with the line keys and then use the prior and next clip keys to land on the icon. Then just hit Control-Shift-E to open the exception dictionary. When you do this while the mouse pointer is on an icon you should go right into the graphics dictionary entry and land in the label field.
