Hi, David.

Honestly, most people don't even know what Java is, let alone use it, and the Window-Eyes control panel is for adjusting Window-Eyes settings. With those two things in mind, adding UI with options to install additional components would most likely cause users more confusion than not.

It could also potentially take some time to search through an entire drive for existing JRE installations, which would lead to the Window-Eyes startup time, something that would concern most users.

The happy medium we came up with was to add a shortcut to the Java Access Bridge installer to the Window-Eyes Program group in the start menu.

Thanks,

Aaron

OK, thanks.
Two questions.
First of all, why not have this shortcut implemented in the Window-Eyes Control Panel. That is where I was searching, and my guess is that most people would start there, not find it, and get confused. Secondly, if it is the way you tell, that each Java version has its own private folder, why not let WE - upon startup - check to see if the bridge is installed in all the available Java subfolders. That way, at least every restart of the screen reader, would ensure the bridge being installed in the updated Java. Should be unnecessary for the user to perform this kind of manual extra installation, as far as I see it.

    Hi, David.

Any time you update Java, you're required to re-install the Java
Access Bridge. This is because the Access Bridge files are
installed into the Java directory, and each version of Java has
its own directory. The documentation states, "Should you need to
install the Java Access Bridge at a later time, you can manually
run the "Install Java Access Bridge" shortcut in the Window-Eyes
Advanced Options Start Menu program group." So once you do that,
your Java programs should start speaking again. Just know that, if
you update Java in the future, you'll have to perform the same
steps to install the Java Access Bridge for that version.

    Thanks,

    Aaron

I installed WE8.2 on an XP machine here. It has Java installed,
and so the java bridge of WE was installed. After installation,
the java-based screens I am using worked.
Recently, I was informed of an update to Java. I ran the updater,
and java is now reported to be version 7.25.something. Problem
is, that ever since the update, WE no longer speaks in the Java
    screens.
What am I to do, to get back my Java support in WE8.2?
