I think PaperPort is a waste of time. Looking at some internet discussions concerning a new cloud service Nuance has, I wonder about their tech support, as well.

But I ran Omnipage 17 on an XP computer for several years. Recently I ordered and installed Omnipage 19 on this Windows 7 laptop. I don't really have very much of the user interface figured out, but I have successfully scanned and done OCR on some material with my Epson V100 scanner and converted other material to Word format. I just haven't put a lot of time into exhaustively testing everything. But it works without incident on this dual-core laptop with Win7 64-bit and 4 GB of RAM. The Windows XP machine had 1 GB of RAM. I would advise uninstalling Nuance Cloud Connector, unless you plan to use Omnipage with Google Drive, DropBox, SkyDrive, etc.

I have used OmniPage 14 and 16 and it runs very well. I have tried
OmniPage 17 and it will not run on my Windows XP Pro machine. After
several hours working with their technical support I gave up on OmniPage
17. I would be concerned with OmniPage 18 for the same reason. I have
also used PaperPort 8 with good success and Paperport 11 with less
success. I have also tried PaperPort 12 and 14 which will not run on
the XP machine. After several weeks working with Nuance support they
informed me there was a bug in PaperPort and it would not run on my
machine and that they would get back to me with a fix. That was about 6
months ago. So far no fix. If you order OmniPage 18, and are still
using Windows XP then be ready to return it within the allotted time.
