I'm curious about this as our organization is also rolling out Cisco Jabber for it's IM client. I don't think we'll be able to incorporate open source applications to facilitate accessibility as well.
please email me offline if there are any other solutions. ----- Original Message ----- From: <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Wednesday, June 12, 2013 4:52 PM Subject: RE: Cisco Jabber for instant messaging with your company? I'll have to forward some of the terminology those of you who've responded have used to our technology team. For now, note that the desktop icon and the title bar of the messaging software both say "Cisco Jabber" and all the corporate communications have been just calling it Jabber. While I appreciate that there may be some technical element called Jabber, it seems that Cisco has also used it for it's user interface. I'll let you know if I solve the mystery by talking to our technical team using the notes below. _____________________________ Robin Van Lant 720-304-1060 Sr. Program Manager, Strategic Services Key Equipment Finance From: Katherine Moss <[email protected]> To: Don Mauck <[email protected]>, "[email protected]" <[email protected]>, "[email protected]" <[email protected]> Date: 06/12/2013 11:32 AM Subject: RE: Cisco Jabber for instant messaging with your company? Remember that Jabber is a protocol and not an application. There are clients abound for Jabber. -----Original Message----- From: Don Mauck [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Tuesday, June 11, 2013 6:06 PM To: [email protected]; [email protected] Subject: RE: Cisco Jabber for instant messaging with your company? What are they using to drive it? Are they using Pigeon? If so, you might half to use Miranda to be the third party link. -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Tuesday, June 11, 2013 2:51 PM To: [email protected] Subject: Cisco Jabber for instant messaging with your company? Hi - Today our company rolled out the new instant mesaging software we will be using internally. It's called Jabber and is from Cisco Systems. Is anyone on the list using this? I'm having issues and will contact GW help desk tomorrow, too. I'm trying to figure out my best approaches for using available apps and graphics labels to get this at least to a usable point. It's odd, some of the button and all of the names in my contact list will read when I use the mouse pointer, but nothing reads with arrowing up and down or tabbing the cursor. I can read the message window, but cannot navigate by keyboard to the text box for my reply. Considering how much business Cisco does with the government, I'm really surprised it isn't more accessible right out of the box. I'm still running WE 7.2, but have the 8.2 disk and just waiting to get a tech person with admin rights to come install it for me. Not sure that will make a difference, but maybe.
