you can use the key lable dictionary to give the keys a description when you press them. but make sure there is a custom made key lable dictionary for the program and set file you are running or else w e will describe these keys globally for all programs.

So it will not tell you that F7 will do anything unless that key has been defined to do something through WE. Yes F7 is spell check for all Office Word programs and WE has included it as part of its keys so that is why you will hear that it is spell check but if WE doesn't use that key for anything and hasn't had it defined for that application then it will not tell you anything. Does that help? It has to have been defined through WE to have a Key description. I have lots of keys related to media player on my keyboard but WE knows nothing at all about them. There are labels on the keyboard's face but WE can't tell what they do. I don't think that there is a way to let WE know that you have extra keys and you want to label them? At least I hope you were joking. I was under the impression it would tell you the function of the function key you pressed, or when you pressed the "fn" key and the function key at the top it would say what the function was. Is this not the case? -----Original Message----- From: net bat [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Wednesday, September 18, 2013 9:38 AM To: Daniel Sweeney Subject: Re: key describer keys will not be described until you press them. grin -----Original Message----- From: Daniel Sweeney Sent: Wednesday, September 18, 2013 8:37 AM To: 'net bat' Cc: GW Info Discussion List Subject: RE: key describer Hi, using keyboard layout yes, don't understand the latter. My first notebook and trying to learn the keyboard. Turned on key describer " Insert 1" heard the phrase key describer but it will not do anything. I am in Outlook 2010. I am using Windows 7. Is there a problem with what I am doing, or is there another way to do this. I am new to all of these - Windows 7, notebooks, and when I try to read the My Dell information WE will not read anything on those pages. Half the time WE will stop running altogether. I have installed and uninstalled 3 times already and the last time was with a sighted person to make sure I had all settings correct. I do, and it reads well on IE, and other things I have started to find. After I close a program, I will start another one and WE will talk for a few minutes and then stop and all I can do is shut down with "alt F4, shut down, start again and when I start up I get the error report. I am waiting for my update to come which was supposed to be here but was delivered to a completely different address and has to be re-shipped. My biggest concern is trying to learn this keyboard and the key describer will not work, so is there some setting I need to change somewhere, please help.
