Thanks for everyone’s help with GoldWave. My device can be shared. However, in the process of tinkering, I found two checkboxes regarding exclusive control of processes. I unchecked one of them. Not sure if I will play with the second or not, but at least, Window-Eyes and GoldWave are not fighting for control of my device. Yes, my external synthesizer is a TrippleTalk USB, so it does not rely on the sound card. Third, I will download the GoldWave app from App Central.

Even after I stop playing the file, it is silent. I can open the Window-Eyes Control Panel because I get the sound that happens when I open it. I am using the same SoundBlaster that I do for playing music. I am using Eloquence Reed for my voice. What have I done now? The only way to get speech back is to kill Window-Eyes and restart it.
