Peter,
Try the Word Advanced Features app. One of its options allows it to read comments (as you come to a line), and have the comment spoken in the correct location. Hope it works for you, but write me off list if it doesn't. But I have a publication deadline approaching and my editor needs my comments. Sad to say, it still doesn't work. Print View is on, Balloons are enabled, I accepted all doc changes so that wouldn't be a factor, and still the problem persists. If I attempt to read a comment, Window-Eyes goes silent in that doc, or reads random stuff outside the balloon. If I exit the doc and return to the desktop, nothing there reads properly - which would suggest Window-Eyes is ill and Control \ no longer works. Keep up the good work guys! P.S. I will uninstall apps and see whether that has any effect; if all fails, I will uninstall Word 2010 as a last resort and install 2013. BTW: I did "upgrade" WE again, it let me do that, but it didn't help. Perhaps, GW Micro could add a Repair Option under Help that could verify WE integraty so users would know to look elsewhere for the problem? Last I checked, we provided support for Window-Eyes, not for Word. <grin> Glad you got it figured out. It goes to show that, sometimes, a quick Google search can provide a quick resolution. Thanks, Aaron On 12/6/2013 10:13 AM, Peter Duran wrote: Hello all, I use the comment feature in Word 2010 all the time with my editor. A couple days ago, I could no longer insert comments and read other comments. I couldn't figure out what happened and tried System Restore, Word 2010 Repair, re-install Window-Eyes to no avail. Steve and Aaron (great guys) said Enable Balloons but I couldn't. It was suggested I uninstall Word and re-install. Fortunately, I did not take that advice. Instead, did a Google search about Disabled Balloons. It turns out (which I should have known and so should have Steve and Aaron) that balloons are disabled unless you are in Print View or in Web View. Now, after switching from Edit View to Print view, all is well again. Please pass the word (pardon the pun) along to other users who may encounter this dilemma.
