I don't have the app but might just go and get it for this exact reason. The Quotation marks that follow a number are sort of a short hand for the word INCHES and an Apostrophe is short for FOOT. In the construction field that is how we write numbers. It would appear that an entry was made to include this short hand. I am sure that there is an entry that could be adjusted to make it stop saying that for you. However, I will go and investigate it because I would like to hear the numbers that way. It would be especially nice to find that these entries could be made program specific. This sort of notation is all over our estimating program and our accounting program.
Thanks for sharing this tid-bit. I didn't think I would ever need or want the app but I just might find it to be fantastic. I've removed a few entries and have modified a few and I've got it working pretty much exactly the way I want. It's doing something strange though, and I need to know how I can fix this. I'm currently using the dectalk access 32 for Window-eyes voice, and for some odd reason when you write a number in quotes such as "100" or "50" the synthesizer says 100 inch, or 50 inch instead of just 100 or 50. In other words, whenever a number is written in quotes, the synthesizer seems to add the word inch after the number. I don't remember seeing anything in any of the dictionary files to indicate that this should happen, and I didn't murge my dictionary entries with the extended dictionary. i figured I'd mention this now since I might be asked this later on. It's not a huge deal but I noticed it in an email someone had written earlier and I did a double take. I thought why is it saying 100 inch when the number is in quotes? This happens globally, so it's not something that's application-specific. I hope I've given enough information to help solve the issue. If I deleted an entry on accident that controls this sort of thing I'm hoping someone can tell me what I can do to fix it. Thanks.
