Hi Nolan,

When you say the stars show up with the other screen readers, have you tried turning punctuation on?

The easiest way to toggle punctuation modes is to install the Toggle Punctuation and More 1.72 app:

Note that there are a few apps with names similar to this. I'm wondering whether All Punctuation mode would, at least, allow you to find the links with stars, assuming that the stars you are referring to are asterisks.

So I'm constantly in the Goodreads website, adding books to my shelves, rating
them, reviewing them, etc. With JAWS 15 and the latest version of NVDA, I can
easily rate books, since the stars show up and are easily selected as links by
these other screen readers.

It doesn't matter whether I use Firefox or IE 11, I get the same tragically
silent results with Window-Eyes.

My steps are:

1. Search for the book and find the right title.

2. Arrow down to hear Window-Eyes say "rate this book."

That's where it all goes to Hades. I route the pointer to those words, even
move the pointer down with Control+Shift+Insert+Down Arrow in small increments,
and I hear nothing about the rating stars.

I'm not trying to whine here, but I am curious about why I can hear those stars
in NVDA and JAWS 15, but not WE 8. I guess someone is going to write me and
say just use one of those, what's the big deal. Well, I truly am partial to WE
and would prefer not to shut it down every time I visit that particular site.

I get that in the grand scheme of things, this is lower than the lowest
priority for the developers. After all, I won't lose my livelihood if I can't
access the ability to rate a book in Goodreads. If I'm somehow in error, I'd
love to know how so I can fix that behavior. This seems like the perfect
instance to use the hotspot app, but I can't get any verbal feedback from WE to
do that.
