Hi Matthew,
By the way, I wouldn't worry too much about off-topic concerns on this
list. We seem to get everything under the sun. smile
I'm just wondering whether you've recently done any upgrades on any
software which runs continually, like Window-Eyes, or something. I'm
thinking that your hardware might be getting a little old if you're
still running XP, no offence. smile
Good luck,
Rod

Hi rod,
The anti virus is actually switched off. I've also put out system
restore to se if it will help. Much obliged, Matthew

Hi Matthew,
Is it perhaps due to the activity of your antivirus program as it
performs real-time scanning of your files as you navigate your
folders; try turning off this feature and see how it goes.

Dear all,
As the subject states, the query is possibly off topic for the list
and I apologise in for the intrusion. However, I am as it were at my
wits' end with the problem and would be most grateful if any of you
could point me in the right direction.
Of late, Windows explorer has been freezing with increasing
frequency when switching between folders. I have installed various
updates and patches from Microsoft but so far none has born any
tangible effect.
I don't know if this is a problem triggered by Window-Eyes, or some
other extraneous factor.
I am already contemplating the daunting task of reformatting the HD
but I would like to keep the option as a last resort.
Sincerely, Matthew
