To add to the excellent message below, if you want to make sure the all the 
options of the window eyes control panel are showing, after hitting 
ctrl-backslash, do alt-h for the help menu, then arrow down to advanced 
settings, maybe 5 down arrows and hit enter on that to check it.  You'll end up 
with many more setting to work with.  If they are too much for now, just go 
through the process again and uncheck the advanced settings.

  Control Backslash opens the WE control panel. The WE manual is found in the 
help menu and is accessed by pressing Alt-H, arrowing down to Documentation, 
pressing Enter, then pressing Enter on the sub menu item called manual. The 
first item in the manual tree view is sometimes talked over by other 
Window-Eyes verbosity settings, so you may need to press Control-Shift-S to 
hear that tree view item again.
