Hi John,
 
That's the right place to change it, but you have to change it while you are
first creating the appointment.  Type your change into the editbox and then
you must press enter to get it accepted.
 
Then of course, when the reminder is displayed, you have the option of
adding some "snooze" time for another reminder.

I've tried everything I can think of to change the reminder tome for my
Outlook 2010 Calendar appointments. I can't find a setting to do it; I've
tried editing the "15 minutes" in the rich text edit box. No luck. Can
anyone help me out? Thanks.
