I'm right with you, Rick. I hate split buttons! Sometimes they work, and
sometimes they don't. You're supposed to down-arrow a few times until the
list of options comes up, then hit enter on your choice. Perhaps if you
could label them, as with other controls, then they could be labeled as
functional or non-functional, but why should they even be there, if they
have nothing to offer?

Subject: Windows 8.1 controls

Hi: Been through the help, we control panel settings and kb articles.

Couldnt find much on navigating and using all those wierd named W8.1
controls.

One I am having trouble with is the Split Button.

I know what it is, a button with a dropdown list and the button often acts
ads the execution control for what is selected in the list.

OK, so when I hear Split Button how do I open the Dropdown list or the
context menu or whatever they have put there?

Then how do I click the button once I highlight the item desired, usually it
will be the default i should imagine but the point here is I cant find a way
to focus the button or the list and to switch back and forth between them

This is an extremely common control in Windows so I imagine there is a hot
key or standard windows key but I couldnt find anything after read
everything I could think of.
