That message has been there for several years now and all it does is take you to a version of the home page that does indeed work better with screenreaders. As soon as you move on to another page, things go back to the regular format. I’ve waited for years for the changes to spread past the home page, but it seems that their efforts at better accessibility have stalled at that point.
The problem I had with the missing book turned out to be some odd technical problem unrelated to the accessibility issues. I finally got a technical service person who tried removing the book from my library, since it showed up on their side, and then placed a new copy of the book in my library. Poof... problem solved after trying out Narrator and changing about every setting one can change in the library. After discovering that the book didn’t show up in the Audible app on my iPhone, the support person decided to try that solution and it worked. So, next time I have any similar issues, I will compare with the iOS app first. The support folks can’t blame me or the screen reader if the problem shows up on a totally different platform. Wonder if it helps. Cheers Stephen ----- Original Message ----- From: Chris To: [email protected] Sent: Sunday, May 18, 2014 4:52 PM Subject: Audible Library issues with WE Has anyone had any luck getting their Audible Library to work better with WE. This is with Windows 7 64-bit and WE 8.4 using the latest IE 11. I’ve got a large library, so finding a particular title can be a real pain considering that the page often requires restoring to keep it working. I am trying to find a particular book, and all of the other books I own by this particular author appear when I search the author’s name, just not the one I am looking for. When I try using the search function to locate it, I get the suggestion of the title in the search my library box, but no matter how many times I hit enter, the title doees not show up. I tried the latest firefox, but it still will not show any titles at all either in the library or in a search. I just don’t get first why the Audible site is so problematic with WE in the first place. I have been told by NVDA users that it works well for them, but I almost always have issues using the site with WE and seco nd why this title in particular is being so obstinate. It shows as in my library if I search it out in the store, I know I own it, it just won’t show up so I can download it. I may have to get sigghted help again, this generally works, but I just shouldn’t have to resort to that in order to use a major site like this. I suspect the problem is mostly on the Audible side of things, they have said that they are planning on improving accessibility for years, but have made no progress that I’ve noticed over the last few years. I don’t know if there is anything more that GW Micro can do or that somebody well versed in App creation might be able to do, but it is something that perhaps might be worth exploring.
