Anything called a Surface Pro has an Intel processor. So there is no
contradictgion between these two messages. The Surface and Surface Pro are
tablets specifically made by or for Microsoft. But there are other tablets
that run Windows 8 or 8.1. I suspect that most of them are running an Intel
processor and not ARM. Another clue: Will the device run software for
Windows 7 or earlier, under the standard desktop and not from the Windows
store? If it will run the older software, it should run Window-Eyes also.
I hope this helps clear things up a little.

Dear Matthew,
GW Micro has repeatedly told us that Window-Eyes will only work on a

There are some tablets with keyboards on them, but they ae ore expensive.
I know that Lenovo makes some Windows Tablets with keyboards on them.
Like I said, if it doesn't have an Intel Procesor, you can not run
Window-Eyes on it.
We have been told that Window-Eyes will not work on any Windows tablet
that has the Arm Processor.
Thanks much.

The subject of the Surface has been raised and discussed quite a few
times already. A cursory look through the archives however indicates an
apparent lakc of personal experience of running Window-eyes on the
Surface among our friends here at GW Info. I am therefore writing to ask
if anyone has yet Actually tried the idea, and if so, what advice they
would give to someone new to the subject of window-eyes and tablet
computers. For example, Are there specific models of the Surface, or
indeed other brands of tablet computers capable of running MS windows
they would recommend as suitable for Window-Eyes. Some of the posts seem
to suggest that only certain processors will work with Window-Eyes;
others disagree with that assertion.
Are there special bluetooth keyboards available for Microsoft compatible
tablets? Are some if not all models equipped with a card reader? one of
the less than attractive features of the Apple iPad is that it does not
include a card reader, unless, of course, it can be plugged to external
storage hardware instead. and so on and so forth. In short, any
information would be most gratefully recieved.
Sincerely, Matthew.
