Is it possible that your punctuation settings are set to program not global?

Recently I posted a message, lamenting the fact that regardless of the fact that I have turned all screen punctuation marks off, the dash is still verbalized. When I sent this message, Netbat sent me a private message alleging that something was either turned on or in dictionary mode. I checked carefully, and this was not the case. Everything in screen punctuation was turned off although all keyboard punctuation is turned on. Nevertheless, the spoken dash persists. The dash must go, and it will go even if a sledge hammer is required. The dash will go!

In order to save me the trouble of purchasing a sledge hammer, please tell me how to stop the pronunciation of the dash. Thank you.
